Teeth whitening in Melbourne

Whether it’s for a special occasion such as a wedding or just to feel special and boost your confidence, in-chair whitening can remove years of discolouration from your teeth and rejuvenate your smile quickly and easily. Rather than stepping out for a quick bite at lunch, many people are instead choosing to step into the dentist and brighten their smile.

But before you lie back in the chair for what will probably be the most relaxing and undisturbed hour of your day, it’s essential you are in perfect oral health.

At iSmile Studio, Zoom! whitening is used to complement your healthy smile. As part of our holistic approach to your dental and general health, Dr Duchovni will conduct an oral health check to ensure you are suitable for teeth whitening. This will enable you achieve the best Zoom! whitening results that last.

The icing on the perfect smile cake

What is the process?

Once you’re comfortable, a protective barrier is placed over your gums and lips before the specially formulated gel is applied to your teeth. The gel is activated by a ultraviolet light, and the active ingredients in the gel break down years of stains and lighten your tooth enamel. While you may feel a slightly warm sensation from the light, this is a painless procedure.

Depending on your personal circumstance and desired shade, the gel may be re-applied two or three times.

Is it Safe?

Teeth whitening has undergone extensive testing to ensure is it safe for your tooth enamel and gums.

Throughout your treatment a member of the iSmiles Studio team will constantly check on you to make sure you’re comfortable and monitor your progress.

Following your procedure it’s recommended that you not drink tea, coffee, red wine or eat highly coloured foods such as berries, chocolate or curries for at least 72 hours. You should also refrain from smoking for at least four days as this will have a negative effect on your results.

How successful is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is very successful, which is why it’s so popular with results lasting years. The darker your teeth the more dramatic the results appear with some people achieving a smile eight shades lighter or more.

The longevity of your treatment will depend on your at home oral hygiene routine and lifestyle choices such as smoking and the foods and drinks you consume. To keep your new smile healthy and white you should also schedule hygienist appointments at iSmiles Studio every six months.
